Signing in for the first time

You do this once, on your own phone. After that it remembers you.

For the crew, on a phone 3 min read Updated 29 Oct 2026

If the office has emailed you an invitation

Most people choose their own password from an email the office sends. Nobody in the office ever knows it.

  1. Open the email from Costworks on your phone and tap the link in it.
  2. It opens Welcome to Costworks. Choose a password — at least 8 characters — and type it twice.
  3. Tap Set my password. That’s it: you’re straight in.

From then on you sign in with your email address and that password.

The link works once and lasts seven days. If it has run out, ask the office to send you another — sending a new one stops the old one working.

If the office has given you a one-time password

No email address? The office can give you a one-time password instead. It’s temporary.

  1. Open app.costworks.co.uk in your phone’s browser.
  2. Type your email address and the one-time password the office gave you.
  3. It asks you to pick your own password straight away — at least 8 characters, and not something obvious.

Stay signed in

When you sign in, tick Keep me signed in on this device so you don’t type your password again. If you open the app most weeks, you won’t be asked again. Now and then it may ask you to sign in — that’s normal, and nothing you saved is lost.

Sharing a phone? Don’t tick it. When you’ve finished, go to Settings and tap Sign out, so the next person signs in as themselves and sees only their own week.

Put it on your home screen

Costworks runs in your phone’s browser, so there is nothing to download from an app store. Adding it to your home screen makes it one tap from then on.

  • iPhone (Safari): open app.costworks.co.uk, tap the Share button, then Add to Home Screen.
  • Android (Chrome): open app.costworks.co.uk, tap the ⋮ menu, then Add to Home screen (some phones say Install app).

If you can’t get in

Tap Forgotten your password? under the sign-in button and it emails you a link to set a new one — see Forgotten your password. If nothing arrives, or you no longer have that email, ring the office: they can send you a fresh link or give you a one-time password in seconds.

Don’t keep guessing. After five wrong tries the account locks for a while. Ask for a link instead.

Still stuck? Ring the office — there’s nothing in the app that somebody there can’t undo. Or contact us.
